Jim and Harriet

Greetings from Drukmo Malas and Jim and Harriet Campbell, owners and managers! We began meditating and studying Buddhism in 1972. We moved to Boulder, Colorado in 1975 to become students of Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche who was instrumental in bringing Tibetan Vajrayana Buddhism to the West. As Buddhism has flourished in the West, we have had the opportunity to meet and study with many inspiring meditation teachers who have nurtured our understanding and practice. After many years meditating within the Buddhist and Naropa University communities, in 1997 we moved to Crestone, Colorado, which had become a center for spiritual practice and retreat. We opened Willow Spring B&B nearby and had the pleasure of hosting guests representing many spiritual traditions from around the world who were attracted to the area.

In 2004, we purchased Karma Rucci from the founders who made and sold meditation prayer beads or malas to support themselves during the 10-year building of the Tashi Gomang Stupa in Crestone. The founding principles were to provide well-crafted mala beads using high quality materials that a practitioner could rely on to provide years of service in support of their meditation practices. After a time, we changed the business name to Drukmo Malas reflecting our connection with our root teacher, who was known as the Druk Sakyong.

Although a large percentage of our business has been wholesaling to well-known mail order and retail suppliers, we also sell Buddhist mala beads and supplies at teaching and retreat programs in Crestone and elsewhere. Increasingly our internet website offers sandalwood malas, bodhiseed malas, and semi-precious stone malas, unique Japanese-style mala bags, small statues, herbal incense sticks and other items worldwide. Our customers can be assured that they are buying a mala from a company with a seventeen-year history and can have confidence in the quality of its products. Carefully hand-crafted in America, using the best available components and materials, our malas are handled and blessed by practitioners with intention and aspiration to support the practices and paths of our customers. May there be benefit for all beings!
