The first prayer beads (“Sanskrit: mala, meaning “garland”) grew out of the Vedic tradition in India and were the prototype for prayer beads in later world cultures. (For more information on history and meaning, see our About Malas section.)
Our stone 108-bead malas are strung on strong flexible wire for durability and adorned with luxurious handmade cotton tassels. A truly exquisite stone of translucent deep rose with delicate white traceries. Metaphysical lore connects this stone to the heart and calls it “the stone of love and balance.” This sumptuous mala is completer with a rock crystal guru bead.
